It was amazing (looking back, it's hard to believe I was there a month ago, soaking it all in!), and I would definitely recommend going if you ever get the chance. Check out Rola's blog entry on her experiences there, if you haven't already. Otherwise, perhaps the best thing I can recommend is to actually join ISTE as a member. From there, you can join various ISTE networks that put you in contact with other educators around the world. Lots of people are posting (and sharing) what they saw/learned/did not only at the conference, but also throughout the year. Humbling, again, because the networks are vast, but a good source of other peoples' experiences :)Heatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13987609384790057309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6514860513640386097.post-74552991160932167502015-07-21T15:15:17.734-04:002015-07-21T15:15:17.734-04:00I have never been to the conference, but I heard a...I have never been to the conference, but I heard about it last year through Twitter. There are some educators in my district that went last year and this year. I didn't realize how big it was. It sounds huge! Good to hear that you learned so much. Are there any other websites or blogs that you would recommend to read about other people's experiences and what they learned?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13602229311595608384noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6514860513640386097.post-18951763896674470142015-07-05T22:09:08.143-04:002015-07-05T22:09:08.143-04:00I'm glad I got the chance to go (it was hit an...I'm glad I got the chance to go (it was hit and miss for a while), and I'm glad I can share. There was nothing I DIDN'T like about it - some of the sessions were not quite what I thought they would be, but that's my own fault for not following the law of two feet! I did notice that many sessions were aimed at beginners - I would have liked to see more advanced sessions. But on the whole, there was such a variety of topics being presented/discussed/explored that I can't complain :)Heatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13987609384790057309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6514860513640386097.post-72114315480392991422015-07-05T21:57:12.508-04:002015-07-05T21:57:12.508-04:00Definitely go if you get the chance to do so. Some participants had ribbons off their nametag right down to the floor :)Heatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13987609384790057309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6514860513640386097.post-14717497076380241482015-07-05T09:11:38.759-04:002015-07-05T09:11:38.759-04:00Thank you so much for writing this post. It is on my list - maybe next year! P.S. It's amazing how stuck we get in our own little worlds (even though it doesn't feel like it at the time) - this was such a great opportunity to get out and experience more diversity and difference in perspective. Follow #ISTE2015 to see others' posts and get their perspectives too! Fingers crossed I get the chance to go again at some point :)Heatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13987609384790057309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6514860513640386097.post-31283967129196550242015-07-04T23:04:58.906-04:002015-07-04T23:04:58.906-04:00So, cool Heather! It definitely sounds like a conference that everyone needs to attend and more than once. Thanks for sharing your initial thoughts. I look forward to reading more about this conference.Elisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10581896401346275394noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6514860513640386097.post-65548137352714830292015-07-04T22:02:14.545-04:002015-07-04T22:02:14.545-04:00Thank you! Let's definitely connect our students in the new year - I'll have senior physics classes, as well as Earth & Space science and a grade 9 science later in the year. Thanks for being so open to trying new things! :)Heatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13987609384790057309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6514860513640386097.post-31112425877515404672015-07-04T20:07:26.578-04:002015-07-04T20:07:26.578-04:00A beautiful summary of your journey to ISTE. Yes it was inspiring and to be part of an international society with many famous authors, speakers and researchers, it was great meeting you and your husband. I hope to connect again with your students on projects. Grade 11& 12 students could give my students feedback on their science explorations. Enjoy the rest of the summer.
